With the autumn chill now in the air, and the leaves on the trees starting to turn, there is a buzz in the café as we look forward to bringing you a monthly update on the life and times of the restaurant, and information on the products we have to offer in our deli.

The kitchen staff will be introducing you to their favourite dish each month, with the ingredients needed to weave a bit of Terra Viva magic in your own kitchen available on our deli shelves.

Mother’s Day

is fast approaching, watch this space for further details on our special Mother’s Day Menu.

We will have some treats in store for all those Mums out there.

DELI FILE

In the Deli this month we have sourced some quirky products with the view to make life in the kitchen just that little bit easier.

We have found the perfect funnel for the kitchen. It is flexible, interchangeable and comes in some bright and cherry colours.

For those of you who prefer your apples sliced and diced, we have found the perfect utensil for you…..

The new apple corer in stock is a gem. Just place your apple on the chopping board, position the corer over the top and push down for perfectly cored and segmented apples each time. We think they’re brilliant!!!

KITCHEN FILE

With the preserving season now in full swing, Chef Steve has been busy creating some wonderful chutneys and relishes in the kitchen. Try a little something special with some Terra Viva Oatcakes, or Crostini, on your next platter.

In our Gluten Free Range, we can now provide you with cookie dough to take home and bake, along with handcrafted loaves from “LOAF”. Flavours include Banana, Walnut & Poppy Seed and a scrummy Carrot Loaf.

Keep an eye on the deli food counter over the coming weeks as we launch a new take out sandwich bar for those customers who want to grab a bite to eat with their take out coffee.

RECIPE OF THE MONTH

Zucchini & Poppy-Seed Potato Cakes

6 eggs

3 cups self –raising flour

3 cups milk

3 zucchini grated

2 Tbsp poppy-seeds

8 cups mashed potato

Salt and pepper to taste

METHOD

Mix first three ingredients in a large bowl making sure there are no lumps.

Add your poppy seeds, potato, seasoning and zucchini and mix in with yours hands until thoroughly mixed.

Form into small cakes and panfry in olive oil until golden brown.
